Ok somewhere I have written I work in a bookstore. This is for all the teachers who assign reading. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure the book you want the students to read is in this order
1. IN PRINT IN PRINT IN PRINT
2. EASILY AFFORDABLE EASILY AFFORDABLE
3. THAT THE STUDENTS CAN GET IT IN TIME FOR CLASS
4. THAT MEANS THAT THE STORES HAVE COPIES FOR STUDENTS TO BUY (On that note what ever happened to the school buying required books? My mother and I were on welfare part of the time I was in school and barely scraping by the rest of the time. We couldn't afford to eat half the time let alone buy books for school--have any of you bothered to think that parents can't afford this?? probably not or probably don't care or probably both.)
5. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ASSIGNING BOOKS A HEADS UP AT THE LOCAL BOOKSTORES WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
What brought this on you say??? That is an excellent question. Today we had many calls from both frantic parents and students. A teacher in a junior high school the next town over assigned S. E. Hinton's "The Outsiders". We had 3 copies the bookstore across the street only had a few also. We both sold out very fast. The city these kids live in doesn't even have a book store. So, even though we a fairly close with gas prices over $3.00 per gallon people can't afford to go driving around to find a book needed for class in 2 days.
So, I had one girl start crying because everybody was sold out and she didn't want to fail because she couldn't get the book. I only wish I still had my copy. I would have actually driven it over to her house at 10:30 at night to give it to her. The teacher knew on Monday she was going to assign the book, but the kids found out last night and today the hunt was on for them and their parents.
One of the lucky ones came in with her mother, whom by the way works at the same school in the same department, knew Monday night the teacher was considering the book. She was upset too, because this has become common practice for teachers to decide on a book without bothering to find out if it's even available for the students to get.
This is happening from grade school through the college levels. I've had people say they've had to drop out of a class because they couldn't get the specific book the teacher wants. That's just unacceptable.
START THINKING OF THE STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES FOR A CHANGE INSTEAD OF JUST DECIDING ON SOMETHING.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST THEN ASSIGN THE STUDENTS HOMEWORK.

REVENGE ON THE TELEMARKETER
This is an audio that I received from a friend in an e-mail. It is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. I actually laughed out loud during this one.

Wisconsin Primary February 19, 2008
I voted this morning, did you?
The Wisconsin primary is today folks. The polls close at 8 p.m.; so, you have no excecuses for not voting. Voting is a privilege not a right. We are fortunate to live in a country that we get to vote, so use your voice and get out there and vote. If you don't like the people in office then it's up to you to help change that.

I'm happy to report that my friend and co-worker, Lori, is heading back to work tomorrow. I sincerely hope that all goes well and she'll be back for good. The only sad thing that would come out of that is; Sharon has been doing a really good job. It would be sad to see her not do it anymore, but I miss Lori.
We are just way too much alike that it's scary sometimes and we only met last year. A case in point last November I believe I came to check messages on the computer and she e-mailed me asking if I had a few movies she could borrow. Well, I had just finished watching the one, had watched one earlier, and just put another one she wanted in to watch. I didn't have the last one she wanted, but I went to Target a couple of days later and they had it on sale for only $3.98!!! I bought 2 one for her and one for me.
Seriously were we separated at birth or what??? Of course she came 5 years after me, and I don't think anyone would ever want to be pregnant that long.

Pictures of grocery bought flowers
Who says you can't find pretty flowers at the grocery store. I know they aren't arranged very nice but I was hungry and wanted to eat the grocery store bought fried chicken (which is usually
very good, but not this time. It was overcooked.).
Anyway I could have go with the red or pink with yesterday being Valentine's Day, but we have what about two feet of snow outside. I wanted something bright and cheery. What is more bright and cheery than yellow tulips and daisies with some purple irises thrown in for good measure.
Of course all of these are planted in the garden that is buried under all that snow. We're planning on doing some rearranging and possibly digging up some ugly overgrown evergreen bushes this spring. At least that's the plan. Hopefully we'll actually do it. Anyone in for doing some free labor? lol

E-Bay.
I don't really have anything much to add today. I put some stuff up on E-Bay. I already sold one movie today "Drop Dead Fred". It's a cute movie, but I haven't watched more than once since I bought it and need to clear out stuff to pay off credit cards. I'll be putting up more stuff as I decide what to get rid of and take pictures. I just wish it didn't take so long to type in the descriptions. I probably would get more up.
Right now I have a few prints (poster type paper) of my brother's art work up, promotional pins for movies, gift baskets, movies (vhs & dvd), books, and a few other items with more to come.
Anyone interested in my E-Bay store it is

More pictures from the storm February 6, 2008
Some of the "same" locations are from tonight after it finally stopped snowing.
I'm just hoping I can get out of the driveway tomorrow morning to go to work.
All the pictures from the storm were either taken from one of the doorways or through a window.
